Important Drug Safety Information

Last Updated: April 21, 2026

The following information is provided to help you understand the safety profiles, potential side effects, and important precautions associated with prescription medications available through CrownGenix. All medications prescribed through our platform are FDA-approved and dispensed by licensed pharmacies. This page is not a substitute for the complete prescribing information or medical advice from your healthcare provider.

1. Prescription Requirement

All prescription medications offered through CrownGenix require a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. You cannot obtain prescription medication through our platform without first completing a medical consultation and receiving clinical approval from a physician. The prescribing provider evaluates your health information, medical history, and suitability for treatment before any prescription is issued.

Self-medicating without a prescription is dangerous and illegal. Never use prescription medications that have not been prescribed to you by a licensed provider.

2. FDA-Approved Medications

CrownGenix exclusively offers FDA-approved medications that have undergone rigorous clinical testing and regulatory review. Our medications are sourced from licensed, verified pharmacies within the United States. We do not offer experimental, compounded, or non-FDA-approved medications unless specifically noted and approved by the prescribing physician.

3. Finasteride (Oral)

Finasteride is an FDA-approved prescription medication used to treat male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia). It works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which reduces the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone associated with hair follicle miniaturization.

Common Side Effects

  • Decreased libido (sexual desire)
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Decreased volume of ejaculate
  • Breast tenderness or enlargement
  • Skin rash

Serious Side Effects

Although rare, some patients have reported side effects that persisted after discontinuation of the medication. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience:

  • Depression, anxiety, or mood changes
  • Persistent sexual side effects after stopping the medication
  • Lumps, pain, or discharge from the breast
  • Allergic reactions including swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

Who Should NOT Use Finasteride

  • Women who are or may become pregnant (finasteride can cause birth defects in male fetuses)
  • Children and adolescents under 18 years of age
  • Individuals with a known hypersensitivity to finasteride or any component of the medication
  • Women who are breastfeeding
Warning: Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle crushed or broken finasteride tablets due to the risk of absorption through the skin, which may cause abnormalities in a male fetus.

4. Minoxidil (Topical)

Minoxidil is an FDA-approved topical treatment for hair loss that works by stimulating hair follicles and increasing blood flow to the scalp. It is available in liquid and foam formulations and is applied directly to the affected areas of the scalp.

Common Side Effects

  • Scalp irritation, dryness, or flaking
  • Itching or redness at the application site
  • Temporary increased hair shedding during the initial weeks of use
  • Unwanted facial hair growth (if product comes in contact with face)

Serious Side Effects

Although uncommon with topical use, seek medical attention if you experience:

  • Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
  • Rapid or irregular heartbeat
  • Unexplained weight gain or swelling of the hands or feet
  • Chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Severe scalp irritation or allergic reaction

Who Should NOT Use Minoxidil

  • Individuals with known hypersensitivity to minoxidil or any inactive ingredient in the formulation
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding (without physician approval)
  • Individuals under 18 years of age
  • Patients with scalp conditions such as sunburn, psoriasis, or open wounds on the scalp

5. Dutasteride (Oral)

Dutasteride is a prescription medication that inhibits both type I and type II 5-alpha reductase enzymes, reducing DHT levels more comprehensively than finasteride. It may be prescribed off-label for the treatment of male pattern hair loss when deemed appropriate by the prescribing physician.

Common Side Effects

  • Decreased libido
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Ejaculation disorders
  • Breast tenderness or enlargement (gynecomastia)

Serious Side Effects

  • Allergic reactions including rash, hives, or swelling
  • Depression or mood changes
  • Persistent sexual dysfunction after discontinuation

Who Should NOT Use Dutasteride

  • Women and children
  • Individuals with liver disease or severe hepatic impairment
  • Individuals with known hypersensitivity to dutasteride, other 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, or any ingredient in the formulation
Warning: Dutasteride is absorbed through the skin. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must not handle dutasteride capsules. Dutasteride has a long half-life; blood donation should be avoided for at least six months after the last dose.

6. General Safety Information

  • Disclose All Medications: Before starting any treatment, inform your healthcare provider of all prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are currently taking. Drug interactions may affect the safety and efficacy of your treatment.
  • Follow Dosage Instructions: Take or apply medications exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. Do not increase, decrease, or stop your dosage without consulting your provider.
  • Report Adverse Effects: If you experience any unexpected or worsening side effects, contact your healthcare provider immediately. You may also report adverse events to the FDA MedWatch program at www.fda.gov/safety/medwatch or by calling 1-800-FDA-1088.
  • Storage: Store all medications as directed on the product label. Keep medications out of reach of children and pets. Do not use medications past their expiration date.
  • Not for Women or Children: The hair loss medications offered through CrownGenix are indicated for use in adult men only, unless otherwise specified by a healthcare provider. These medications are not approved for use in women or individuals under 18 years of age.

7. PSA Testing and Prostate Health

Finasteride and dutasteride may affect prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test results, which are used to screen for prostate cancer. If you are taking either of these medications, inform your healthcare provider before undergoing PSA testing, as the results may need to be adjusted. Regular prostate health monitoring is recommended for men over 50 or those with a family history of prostate cancer.
